Working with local urban forestry design firm, Seeds of Wisdom LLC, and the City of Santa Fe, NM, we designed and installed birdhouses in public green spaces. They are intended to attract native species habitat. We researched both Audubon and Cornell Lab of Ornithology recommendations for designing houses that would accommodate specific species. Wood such as Western Red Cedar is used for its natural weather resistance. Our hope is that these will also promote interest in wildlife and birds among community members and families using the green spaces.
