This piece further explores the viability of harvesting and repurposing 'urban wood'. By sourcing urban wood as a resource we redirect quality materials that might otherwise end up in a landfill or mulched in a tree shredder.

The spruce for instance in this piece, came from a beloved towering 70 year old tree that had been in front of St. Francis Cathedral Basilica, Santa Fe. It blew down in a freak windstorm Christmas 2021. I acquired several sections of the trunk and had them milled by a local sawyer. The slabs were air seasoned for over a year before they were ready to craft.
